How well is your SRC doing? Are your students bored with the SRC? Looking to take it to the next level? The job of an SRC is tough. Students need to be good representatives, clever organizers, creative, enthusiastic, and keep up with the rest of their school work.

We’re kidding ourselves to think that these qualities arrive the day that students get appointed to a leadership role. These skills only come with training and practice.

A look at how meetings work and the best ways to maximize their effectiveness.

Meeting Procedure
 
The ins and outs of formal procedures of a meeting.  Choose level sophistication as fitting to the group

Impromptu Public Speaking
 
A look at the technical delivery of a speech, not focused on content.

Public Speaking
 
A more advanced session focusing on delivering a prepared and polished speech.

Representation
 
A look at what representation means and how best to develop that ability in the school.

Defining Leadership
 
A discussion on the nature of leadership and what it really means to be a leader.  This session is highly recommended.

Time Management
 
Methods of how to organise time and manage resources to stay ahead of the work load.

Motivation
 
A session with both anecdotal and practical elements aimed at providing motivation for the group, and methods for them to continue motivating themselves.

Getting Organised
 
A progressive look at all the steps in organising an event.  This session will develop a formula that future events can be check listed against.

Working with Teachers
 
Cooperation is frequently the best way to get what you want/need, and can also be a strategy used with anyone, not just teachers.

Image
 
Strategies for turning a groups negative image into a positive one.

Advertising
 Publicity and marketing are essential skills in the promotion of any event.

Delegation
 
What is delegation?  Where does it fit in? How and when do I do it?  What are the best ways?

Facilitation
 
Training to run a group discussion or forum where everyone can speak and is encouraged to do so.

Goal Setting
 
Strategies to help keep focus, set and achieve goals.

Brainstorming/Creativity/Lateral thinking
 
Methods for unleashing the creative potential of the brain.

Communication
 
Styles and skills of communication in a wide range of circumstances

Conflict Resolution
 
Methods of taking a hostile situation and quickly and quietly resolving the conflict.

Guided planning
 
A session in small groups where participants begin work on a real project that they are actually intending to continue.
